Would just like to say a big Thank you to everyone at porters,
i booked the london eye and meal deal you have for my parents and they had a lovely time.
Thanks once again its such a great package would reccomend to anyone.
A HUGE thank you to your team for 3 great evenings, everyone really loved the restaurant, food and excellent service, and it was all so straight forward!
I did tell all it was Weight Watchers approved.
One is tempted to say that before dining at Porters one should check with Mother and double check with Nanny that it is alright to have such an unashamed indulgence. Prepare to return to the good old days and the reassurance that wholesome English food is what made the Empire great and can still delight and embolden the visitor to Covent Garden.
Unlike the delicately poised cuisine of some restaurants there is substance to the fayre at Porters. Starters such as crispy herb crumbed mushrooms with blue cheese dip or smoked mackerel and chive parfait make the point elegantly as does the selection of Porters world famous pies which includes Cumberland pie with herb and cheese potato topping, lamb and apricot pie and luxury fish pie with salmon and prawns. In the grills selection, as one might expect of Porters, the Aberdeen Angus steak has been hung for 21 days.
Concern of this nature carries over to the classic dishes where favourites such as steak and kidney pudding, roast beef and horseradish Yorkshire pudding wrestle for our attention with a wide choice of other classics including braised beef and herb faggots or wild boar and sage sausage with horseradish mash.
Desserts, called hot and cold puddings, are not for the faint hearted or those preserving a girlish figure: but that is a small thing to lose in exchange for steamed syrup sponge, date and walnut steamed pudding, banana, rum and butterscotch trifle, portered stilton or any of the other delights available
Will put your restaurant next door on my list for next visit to London.

A rather tired and footsore family of four were in dire need of rest and refreshment last Sunday evening. Having enjoyed a Christmas evening meal with work colleagues at the restaurant two years ago, I tentatively enquired the availability of a table for four adults at very short notice. Delighted to be made welcome, we were superbly cared for by Chris in the lower level dining room. We are conscious that he was working flat out to meet the demands of a large family party and one or two other tables. We wanted to commend him for his courtesy, diligence and good humour whilst under great pressure. Needless to say the food was excellent with generous portions, and a credit to the restaurant's commitment to keep faith with traditional English cuisine. Thank you for rescuing and refreshing four weary travellers on a busy Bank Holiday weekend. We will be calling again and telling our friends.
A wonderful London welcome at the front door. The traditional food came in huge quantities and after our 3 course special we found it difficult to move. I strongly recommend the mushrooms, chicken and broccoli pie and treacle sponge. I will definitely visit again. Thanks Porters!
Went to Porters for lunch. Just straightforward, good British food and good value. A good choice.

Porters - a lively and buzzing restaurant - somewhere to go if you are in a rush as service was very prompt! Good old fashioned food a bit over priced but I think that is what you expect to pay in Covent Garden!
Porters on a Wednesday evening got very busy but service was good - we were going to theatre so didn't want to hang around and it worked out well
Really enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend it to anyone and everyone when in Covent Garden

Porters Restaurant - We had family come up to London from Herne Bay Kent and wanted to take them to an English restaurant in London. Porters was a great success, the food was as good as it sounded on the menu. The waiter was very pleasant, the food was very good value for money and all in all the evening was marvelous.
Porters supply good wholesome food at a reasonable price.
I took my sister and her Italian boyfriend to Porter's on his first ever trip to the UK. It was a great choice - he could try tasty traditional English food for a bargainous price. I think he enjoyed the hearty portions and relaxed ambience as much as us Brits did!
I think that Porters English Restaurant is perfect if you are looking for tasty, cheap, simple food. The service was friendly and relatively prompt
We enjoyed our meal the service was very friendly, and was good value for London.
Great place to take visitors who wants to try solid English food, good value for money.
Excellent as Ever!
The food at Porters was very good and the portions were extremely generous
Porters was an excellent choice for a pre theatre dinner- there was too much food for us 50 somethings- the steak and guiness pie had the best filling my husband had ever tasted service quick friendly and efficient.
Everyone enjoyed their pies and steamed puddings - luckily we were a table of women with no interest in a low-carb dining!
Fine family fun.
Took my son to Porters in Covent Garden for his birthday, his girlfriend is Finnish and had never been to an English restaurant. The food was great and terrific value £15 for 3 courses. They even decorated the table with balloons for us. Good but unobtrusive service, friendly atmosphere, good wholesome food and the puddings are outstanding. Maybe not the place for a romantic meal but with a bill of £110 for 6 people where else can you get such value in London?
Service very good with a busy, buzzy environment
Porters English Restaurant was a good choice for a cheap birthday meal before the theatre. It was fun and the waiter was a great character. The food was good and solid stuck to the ribs nicely.
We visited Porters English Restaurant on a Monday evening, for their three course special offer menu. The service was good, and the food itself was excellent - but be warned, it's very filling! Just the thing for a chilly february evening - well worth a visit.
Food excellent - good hearty English grub!
Well recommended by a friend and would recommend to others.
We went to Porters on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. We sat downstairs and it was fairly noisy with the babble of the conversation and the background music so not somewhere to go if you want a romantic meal or if you just want to chat! Our waiter was excellent - very thoughtful and attentive.
Porters is great for traditional English food, good hearty plates for the cold winter months. Great for pre-theatre
Forget pub food, this place is fantastic!! The service was excellent, the place full but not rowdy, and the food was the best traditional British i have tasted. But be warned the portions are huge,we had the 3 course meal and didnt eat for 2 days afterwards.Struggled to spend 40 pounds!!
Will definately be going back for another visit after a few weeks dieting!

Porters was fantastic! It serves good classic English pub food and delicious puds. It was the type of menu where you could easily choose 2 or 3 for each course. There was something for everyone. Good sized portions and nothing fancy. You will be bursting at the seams and very satisfied after 3 courses.
Traditional british food, well presented. Excellent, unpushy service.
Porters restaurant provided one of the best value for money meals I have had for a long time. The food was well cooked, served attractively and had a variety of flavours and textures. The meal was for 1-30pm and the table was ready for us when we arrived. The waiter was most helpful and very pleasant. We were not rushed and made to feel very welcome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to eating another meal there soon.
As usual Porters offered good service and excellent food. Really enjoyed our evening.

Good value food and a good pick for pre theatre dinner as service is efficient.
The food was delicious and came in nice hearty English portions. The type of food that can really warm you up on a cold winters day. The inside of the bar has character and the staff were friendly.
Staff friendly. the tipsy summer pudding, which is 'divine', 'complete class', etc. Whichever superlative you wish to use, it is wholly deserved here!
Overall a good experience - pleasant surprise to find the restaurant so lively given the time (5 pm) - obviously lots of other pre-theatre bookings. Food was fine - nice reliable fare.

A very traditional restaurant, with a pleasant atmosphere, excellent location, and hearty warming food, perfect for winter.
Very hearty fare - not somewhere to go for a light supper, but excellent for a stodge-fest on a cold winter evening. Though I did overindulge and end up dozing off at The Lion King afterwards!
Good comfort food, relaxed atmoshphere. Good quality food with friendly staff.

Atmosphere was excellent upstairs, service was attentive, the food was exceptional and very reasonably priced (the mashed potato is to die for) and I've rekindled my love for suet.
Good english comfort food like sausage and mash to warm you up on a chilly autumn evening.

The Salmon Shrimp Fish Cakes were outstanding.
It was good to come back here after 18 months or so. Still excellent value for money though perhaps not much appeal to younger people. The jug of Pimms is superb!
